On one such date, Dia takes Sriram to a place where she wants to build an orphanage. While on the other side, Sriram is sad as his dad is not buying him an Audi. There are many builders behind that property. One late evening Sriram calls Dia outside her hotel.

Dia learns that Sriram has bought the property to his father and in return he has got an Audi. Dia has an argument with Sriram because the land he has brought for his dad is the land Dia had chosen for building an orphanage.

She soon breaks up with him after a relationship of more than 1 year. There he finds out that Dia is living in a village in Gujarat, Jhumli. Dia still angry with Sriram tells him that if he could build a bridge in the village she will come back with him and forgive him. The village head Latesh bhai, Anupam Kher is hesitant to build a bridge worth crores.

Latesh takes tax from the villagers, enjoying his money, doing nothing for the villagers, much in contrast to his father. Sriram and Dia approach Kirtibhai a local politician who agrees to invest for the bridge. The works starts but not for long as a few days after Kirtibhai is found corrupt. Sriram then makes a deal with Latesh to sell the 10 acre barren land of Jhumli, which Dia never wanted to, in turn for completing the bridge.

Sriram agrees with the fact that Dia would be angry at his move. The bridge building starts. After some days the head comes and tells he is going to start to build the chemical factory soon. Dia was shocked for she always anticipated the head would do something like that once he got the land. Dia angry with Sriram yells at him, telling him that he committed the same mistake yet again and tells him to leave Jhumli.

But this time Sriram too gets angry with her for making such a statement after he has done this far and leaves the village. But he comes back, determined to complete his task, the bridge work. He requests Latesh bhai to stop building the factory for the sake of the villagers. In turn he gets badly beaten by Latesh bhai's men. Then Latesh's father silent all over the years gives him a contract which will not further allow him to enjoy the comforts of being his son.

The head realising his mistake, stops further commencement on building the factory and permits Sriram to complete the bridge. Dia gets to know all about this. She forgives Sriram for all his earlier misdeeds and they finally reunite on the newly built bridge. The film ends with Dia going back with Sriram to the city but she asks him if they could stay in the nearby village as there is some electricity problem.

Theatrical release poster. Many Chamars stated that they are made to feel unwelcome in Sikh gurdwaras and Hindu temples. Many Sikhs do not wish to give Chamars equal status in their gurdwaras and communities. Mazhabi Sikhs were subjected to the same forms of inequality and discrimination in gurdwaras from Upper caste Sikhs and unified with Hindu Churas to form Valmiki temples.

Sikh gurdwaras, which often are controlled by the older first generation immigrants, in Britain generally frown upon inter-caste marriages even though they are on the rise. More and more families are affected by inter-caste marriages. The few gurdwaras that accept inter-caste marriages do so reluctantly.

Gurdwaras may insist on the presence of Singh and Kaur in the names of the bridegroom and bride, or deny them access to gurdwara-based religious services and community centres. It is estimated that inabout one-third of the immigrants who arrived in the Caribbean were Dalits. The shared experience of being exploited in a foreign land gradually broke down caste barriers in the Caribbean Hindu communities.

Dalit literature forms a distinct part of Indian literature. Another early Dalit poet is Dohara Kakkaiah, a Dalit by birth, six of whose confessional poems survive. Notable modern authors include Mahatma Phule and Ambedkar in Maharashtra, who focused on the issues of Dalits through their works and writings. This started a new trend in Dalit writing and inspired many Dalits to offer work in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil and Punjabi. The Indian author Rajesh Talwar has written a play titled 'Gandhi, Ambedkar, and the Four Legged Scorpion' in which the personal experiences of Dr Ambedkar and the sufferings of the community have been highlighted.

Later the Little magazine movement became popular. Daniel and Dominic Jeeva gained mainstream popularity.

Despite political connections and the financial ability to struggle against ingrained prejudices, Chirag was not able to "bag" any other movie project in the following years. Chirag, in his early days, described Bollywood as his "childhood dream", but eventually entered politics instead. When the media tried to talk to him about "Caste in Bollywood", he refused to talk about the matter, and his silence speaks for itself.

Several Dalit groups are rivals and sometimes communal tensions are evident. A study found more than Dalit sub-castes throughout India, with internal divisions.

A DLM Dalit Liberation Movement party leader said in the early s that it is easier to organise Dalits on a caste basis than to fight caste prejudice itself.

Balmikis and Pasis in the s refused to support the BSP, claiming it was a Jatav party but over 80 per cent of dalits from all united Dalit castes voted BSP to power in Many converted Dalit Sikhs claim a superior status over the Hindu RaigarsJoatia Chamars and Ravidasis and sometimes refuse to intermarry with them.
